Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles Goes Live with PaymentExpress® as New Point-of-Sale ePayment SolutionAugust 3, 2016

Today, Grant Street Group announced that the State of Ohio has implemented PaymentExpress, Grant Street’s electronic payment processing platform, as the new point-of-sale solution for the Department of Public Safety/Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV). The Ohio BMV now offers citizens the ability to make payments with credit or debit cards at 191 Deputy Registrar locations and 6 Reinstatement Centers throughout the State.
The Ohio BMV serves over 10.4 million customers each year, processing payments for driver’s licenses, identification cards, vehicle registrations and renewals, license plates, titles, and inspections.
Previously, State agency offices only accepted payments via cash, check, and money order. “Since going live on June 29, Ohio residents have been quick to adopt this new payment option at their local BMV branches. We anticipate over 2 million card payments per year,” said Phil Runyard, PaymentExpress Product Manager. “Point-of-sale credit and debit card payments offer a huge convenience for BMV customers across the State.”
PaymentExpress was selected following a thorough competitive bid process headed by the Ohio State Treasurer’s Office. PaymentExpress provides industry-leading security standards and seamless integration with the State’s Business Application Services System (BASS), ensuring the State will always have up-to-date information on payments processed – all at zero cost to the State.
