State of New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department Selects PaymentExpress® as New Payment Processing System

July 24, 2018

Today, Grant Street Group announced that the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department (NMTRD) has selected PaymentExpress® as its new electronic payment platform. Known as the “Land of Enchantment”, New Mexico is home to over two million citizens, and includes the cities of Albuquerque, Las Cruces, and Santa Fe.

New Mexico joins many other large government agencies across the country who rely on PaymentExpress to collect over $5 billion in government revenue each year. PaymentExpress, an e-payment system designed for the unique needs of government agencies, will allow the NMTRD to accept all major debit and credit card brands (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express) for payments online, over the phone (IVR), via mobile or tablet devices, and at 85 Motor Vehicle Department office locations throughout the State.

The State selected PaymentExpress following a thorough competitive procurement process. The NMTRD’s Final RFP Evaluation Committee Report noted that PaymentExpress was selected based on its “significant relevant corporate experience implementing and operating e-payment programs … including Ohio’s Bureau of Motor Vehicles, San Bernardino County, Auditor-Controller/Treasurer/Tax Collector, Sacramento County, Miami-Dade County Tax Collector, and Broward County Records, Taxes and Treasury Division,” and concluded that PaymentExpress “represent[s] the best value to the State of New Mexico.”

“The addition of New Mexico is a significant addition to our payments portfolio,” said Phil Runyard, Grant Street’s Director of ePayments. “The State’s thorough evaluation and ultimate selection of PaymentExpress is a testament of our track record delivering technically advanced and secure solutions, and uncompromising customer support. As a FinTech focused on government, we hone our applications and support to the unique requirements of government entities, as illustrated by our references contacted by New Mexico, which all rated Grant Street as “Excellent in our knowledge and experience”, continued Mr. Runyard.

PaymentExpress will support NMTRD tax programs including fines and fees collected from the Motor Vehicle Division. The implementation will begin this month, with a scheduled go-live in October 2018.
