Palm Beach County, Florida, Clerk & Comptroller Launches Online Foreclosure Auctions

February 8, 2010

palmbeachclerkThe Clerk & Comptroller of Palm Beach County is now conducting foreclosure auctions online using Grant Street Group’s ClerkAuction® platform at www.mypalmbeachclerk.clerkauction.com. Since the first auction on January 21, 2010, more than 900 participants from twenty states and two countries outside the U.S. have registered to use the new online auction system, which replaces all in-person, courthouse auctions in Palm Beach County. Sale participants from any location can now go online to research pending foreclosure sales, register to bid, submit required deposit money, and bid on properties from their home or office. Interested bidders have already submitted over $1.3 million of deposit funds.

“The Clerk & Comptroller’s office is committed to utilizing new technology to improve efficiencies, customer conveniences and access to the courts,” said Clerk Sharon Bock. “The online foreclosure process is not only more convenient, but also more transparent because the public is able to go online to view the bidding or the results of auctions”, she added.

Grant Street Group designed ClerkAuction as a flexible and powerful application that not only auctions foreclosures and tax deeds online, it also provides the necessary tools to facilitate the Clerk’s workflow process, including automation and bulk printing of the post-sale documents.

“Grant Street tailored the system to meet our specific needs,” said Mark Broderick, Director of Civil Operations for the Clerk’s office. “We can now manage both the pre and post auction processes directly in ClerkAuction, which will help streamline operations in addition to the efficiencies gained by selling foreclosures online.”

The implementation of ClerkAuction comes at a time of record-breaking foreclosure cases in Palm Beach County, which include over 53,000 cases pending in 2010. The increasing number of foreclosures coupled with State imposed budget cuts makes realizing operational efficiencies even more vital for the Clerk.

Foreclosure auctions are scheduled every Monday and Thursday (excluding legal holidays) with bidding beginning at 9:00 a.m. EST. Bidders can register, view online demos, and participate in the auctions by visiting www.mypalmbeachclerk.clerkauction.com.
