In this interview, we speak with José Cisneros, Treasurer for the City and County of San Francisco. When the pandemic began in March of 2020, José knew that it would have a profound effect on the tax-paying citizens of San Francisco. José and his staff worked directly with government leaders to understand the impact the pandemic was having on their constituents and in response, changed everything from tax deadlines to communication plans so people could submit their payments safely and on time. José also explains how a data-driven approach has allowed his office to be more responsive to the citizens of San Francisco and begin addressing social and financial inequalities.
